Antonia Martinez

Antonia Martinez, Age 84, of Liberal Kansas died Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Southwest Medical Center.

She was born on June 13, 1937, in Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Sabino and Benita (Menchaca) Garcia.

She Married Marcelino Martinez in Durango, Mexico in March of 1957. They immigrated to the United States where Antonia received her U.S. Citizenship.

Antonia was a very loving caring wife, mother and grandmother, the Matriarch of the family making sure the family remained close and connected. She was a wonderful baker and would use her baked goods to entice the family to come spend time with her. The family was always glad to go visit and see what wonderful fresh baked treats she had baked.

She was also very proud of the beautiful Roses she had grown in her garden.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Marcelino.

One Son Bruno and his wife Elisa of Liberal, Kansas.

Three Daughters Maria, and her husband Adan Monarrez of Liberal, Kansas, Margarita, and her husband Rosauro Martinez of Liberal, Kansas, Irene, and her husband Hector Arzola of Lindale, Texas.

She was the grandmother of 13 and Great Grandmother of 8.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 17, 2021, From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 West 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

A Rosary will be Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at 7:00 PM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 North Calhoun Avenue.

Mass will be Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 North Calhoun Ave., Liberal, Kansas. Reverend Jacob Schneider will celebrate the mass.

Interment will follow in the Liberal Cemetery.
