Saints Overcome NMMI for First Win

Seward leaves New Mexico 1-1 Tuesday night after an 86-82 win over New Mexico Military in Roswell.
The Saints got off to a good start one night after a 110-85 loss at New Mexico Junior College. The Saints built leads of 21-9, 27-13, and 34-20. SCCC succumbed to first half foul trouble and the NMMI Broncos finished the half on a 21-6 run to lead 41-40 at the half. The Broncos made 18-25 free throws in the first half. NMMI led 50-44 and 54-48 early in the second half. Seward rallied and an alley pop from Erik Pratt to Kevon Cooper pulled Seward within 54-53. A Pratt three pointer gave the Saints a 56-54 lead. Seward never trailed again. The Saints led 78-65 with 5:15 to play and 79-66 with 3:37 to go. NMMI cut the lead to 81-77 with 41 seconds left.
Seward won despite being out rebounded 47-35 and NMMI making 29-44 free throws. SCCC forced 28 Bronco turnovers.
Kevon Cooper led the Saints with 14. Will Dubinsky and Erik Pratt scored 12 a piece. Victor Rosario had 11. Bee McCrary had 10.
Seward hosts Trinidad State Tuesday night at 6 with Saints Shootaround at 5:45 on 107.5.
