Last night the Eisenhower Warriors traveled to Garden City to take on the
horse good hawks. The Warriors dropped their game 36 to 6 but I had flashes
of greatness from the running back Jadon Hieronymus who scored on a long 38
yard run in the fourth quarter to give the Warriors their only score of the
night. On defense Wyatt Mannel, Justin Lopez and Max Holman all combined
for quite a few tackles as the Warriors were just unable to keep the edge
against the Hawks. Next week the Warriors will be back home for their final
home game of the season against the Hays Falcons.

In eighth grade action the Warriors battled the whole way and even though
the score wouldn’t appear it battled all the way to the end losing finally
32 to 14. The Warriors drove the ball on their first drive but fumbled on
the opposing 30 yard line giving the ball to the Hawks. The Hawks went down
and scored on their first possession but the two-point conversion was
unsuccessful. Then the Warriors got on track and scored a go ahead
touchdown by Jairo Martinez as the two point conversion was successful to
James Fieser driving the score to 8-6. The Hawks got one final possession
at the end of the first half and were able to score with about 21 seconds
left in the half on a 2 yard plunge which gave them a 12 to 8 lead at
halftime. The Hawks received the second half kick off and took that down
and scored as well making the score 18 to 8. The Warriors battle back
however in on their next possession thanks to a deep connection from
Blayden Betts to Diego Pavia they crawl back into the game on a 12 yard
Xavier Tafoya run to the outside and push the score to 18-14. The Hawks
methodically drove the ball down the field on their next drive but we’re
faced with a fourth down and two on their own 2 yard line, a chance for the
Warriors to get a stop and get the ball back and possibly win the game.
However, the hard running style of Plankenhorn was too much, who plunged
into the end zone and pushed the score to 24 to 14. After that the Hawks
got a garbage touchdown as the Warriors attempted with less than two
minutes left to get a quick score on a reverse to Aaron Duque which
resulted in a fumble and the score for the Hawks. Despite the score looking
lopsided this was a very close four quarter game they just got away from
the Warriors at the very end. Blayden Betts on the night threw for over 150
yards for the first time in his career. Betts also distributed the ball to
4 different receivers on the night. The Warriors will finish out their
schedule here in liberal as they take on the Hays Falcons next week. Then
following that the crosstown rivalry with the Seymour Rogers Apaches at
Redskin Field.
