TOPEKA, KAN.- Mary Ann Caffey kept a big secret all weekend. Only her husband and one close friend knew tucked away safely in her sock drawer was a lottery ticket worth $50,000.
“I can’t beleive I won $50,000 playing a scratch ticket!” exclaimed the 40 year old Liberal resident after claiming the ticket at Lottery headquarters.
Caffey says typically she buys two $5 Super Red Hot Crossward tickets each Friday. Last Friday. though. she had some tickets to cash in, so she bought four Red Hot Crosswords.
The fouth ticket she scratched was the $50,000 winner.
Cafffey works at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal and puchased the winning ticket at Express Lane 22, across the street from Broadcasat Square.
When asked what she planned to do with the money, Cafey’s response was, “I’m going to blow every dime”. No, no,, that’s just a joke. We’re going to use it to get out of debt and we’ll save the rest.”
