Two Vehicle Accident Early Saturday Morning

A two vehicle accident occurred at approximately 12:30am Saturday morning, May 1st, on US Highway 54 at the Loves Truck Stop just East of the City Limits of Liberal.
A 2020 Freightliner being driven by Jeffrey Scarlett, 36, of Independence Missouri was east bound on US 54 when a 2020 KIA Forte being driven by Jose Ortega-Soti, 26, of Liberal, made a right hand turn out of the Truck stop and struck the semi head on.
Ortega-Soto was taken to Southwest Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries. Scarlett and a passenger in the semi, James Durbin, 44, of Kansas City Missouri, were not injured.
