Beverly A. Barber, age 77, passed away early Monday morning, March 15, 2021, at the Minneola District Hospital, Minneola, Kansas.
She was born June 6, 1943, at St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Leslie and Lois (Andrew) Pierson. As a young girl, she attended school in Ford, Elkhart, and Plains, Kansas. After her schooling, she began working as a waitress at various restaurants, owning and managing B. J.’s Youth Center in Fowler, and was the custodian and head cook for the Fowler Schools.
She attended the Fowler Friends Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.
On March 1, 1973, she married J.W. Barber. He precedes her in death on January 28, 2000.
She is survived by her children, David Chestnut and wife Kim of Breckenridge, Texas, Billie Jean Smith and husband Ron of Iuka, Kansas, and Charlie Carr; a brother Charles Pierson of Grand Junction, Colorado; three sisters, Lola Roberts of Meade, Nancy Davis of Salina, Oklahoma, and Virginia Stohler of Cedar Edge, Colorado; eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Peggy Quinones; parents; and two sisters, Evelyn Harris and Shirley Shield.
Cremation has taken place with memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family would welcome memorials to the Fowler Legacy Foundation in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
