Redskins Falter in the Fourth

Brock Kappelmann - February 26, 2021 7:23 am

Liberal coach Trace Haskell has talked all season about putting four strong quarters together.  Never was the issue more apparent than Thursday night on senior night in the Big House.  The Redskins trailed by just four at the end of three only to see the Red Demons run away in the fourth quarter out pacing the Skins 24-9 for a 63-44 win over LHS.

The Red Demons jumped on the Redskins early taking an 11-4 lead and led 14-8 after one quarter.  Dodge City led 22-10 and 26-12 before the Redskins made a push.  LHS used a 9-0 run to trail 26-21 at the half.  The Redskins cut the lead to one at 27-26 early in the second half.  Dodge went back up nine at 35-26 before the Redskins closed the gap and trailed 39-35 after three quarters.  DCHS dominated the fourth quarter.

The Red Demons shot 49 percent from the field.  Liberal shot just 32 percent.  LHS was 3-20 from three point range.  AJ Ramirez and Embry Williams scored 12 a piece in the loss.

The Red Demons win their fourth straight in Liberal and are 11-8 overall and 5-3 in the WAC.  Liberal is 7-13 and 3-5 in the WAC.  They are 3-4 at home in what may have been their final home game.  Liberal plays at Dodge City Tuesday night at 7 for sub state with Redskin Pre-game at 6:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
