Tommy Elton Williams, 65, formerly of Liberal, KS passed away on Tuesday February 23, 2021 at his residence in Amarillo, TX.

He was born on January 25, 1956 to Ivan and Helen (Ingle) Williams at Beaver, OK.

Tommy was a graduate of Liberal High School; class of 1973. He went on to obtain his Bachelor Degree from Arizona State University in 1977and then his Masters Degreed from Ft Hays State University in 1986. Tommy had worked at Seward County Community College for over 30 years; he was working as the Dean of Administrative Services when he retired in 2011. Words cannot express the love and pride he felt for SCCC.

Tommy was a proud Republican and a member of the Tea Party; always being vocal with his beliefs which sometimes landed him into the FaceBook Jail. He was well loved by his many friends and work colleagues. Tommy was also an ornery jokester with a heart as big as his mischievous personality!

His many achievements and activities throughout his life include being an Eagle Scout in 1972. Being a member of numerous organizations including the National Eagle Scout Assn, Phi Theta Kappa, where he was inducted into the Hall of Honor in 1982, Phi Beta Capa, American Accounting Assn, Assn of Government Accountants, Liberal ELKS Lodge, Liberal Zoning Appeals Board, Southwest Medical Center BOT, Liberal Housing Authority Board, and the NRA.

Tommy is survived by his Sister, Constance Schwartz of Alliance, NE, and Lifelong Friend, Marylin Hommertzhein of Maize, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, George R. Alexander Jr.

Per Tommy’s specific wishes his body was cremated; he did not want a service and wished to be remembered for who he was. His urn will be interred at the Liberal City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the SCCC Developement Foundation or Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826.

Friends may leave condolences on Tommy’s tribute web page at www.millermortuary.net.
