Redskins Pounce on Panthers for Homecoming Win

The Liberal Redskins snapped a three game losing streak with a homecoming win over the Great Bend Panthers Saturday night in the Big House. Liberal rallied for the 54-50 win for their first season sweep against Great Bend since 2017.
Great Bend led throughout the first half. The Panthers grabbed a 7-3 lead and led 16-13 after one quarter. The Redskins clipped the lead to one at 22-21 before the Panthers took a 25-21 lead into halftime. The Skins took their first lead at 29-28 and led 33-30 before Great Bend went on a 7-0 run to lead 37-33. Liberal used a 9-2 run to lead 42-39 after three. Liberal led 44-39 with 6:32 to play. LHS led 46-41 before a three by Great Bend made it 44-41 with 3:38 to play. Liberal took a 46-41 lead before Great Bend made it 46-44. Malcolm Wiltshire’s clutch three pointer with 1:44 to play gave the Redskins at 49-44 lead.
Embry Williams had 17 to lead Liberal. Wiltshire scored a career high 12 and made key defensive plays in the second half. Alex Lopez added eight.
Liberal is 6-12 and 2-4 in the WAC. Great Bend is 4-13 and has lost seven straight. The Panthers are 1-5 in the WAC.
