B teams. Hoping for that first W in our last few games.
8B from Coach Shelby –
The Seymour Rogers 8B team took on Great Bend on Saturday in a
conference game. The Apaches continued their season-long trend of starting
slow when they trailed 6-0 after the first two minutes of play. SRMS was
able to battle back and even had the lead for the majority of the second
half. With just over 2 minutes to play, the Apaches had a one point
advantage. From there, Great Bend was able to hit half of their free
throws While, SRMS went zero for six at the line. The Apaches ended the
game missing a corner three at the buzzer. Apaches lose 25-22. Damion Rios
and Izzy Archleta combined to score all of the points for the Apaches.
In the late afternoon game, a short handed Apaches team took on Hays. The
Apaches battled hard, but Hays’ full court press was too much for SRMS to
handle. Apaches lose 44-11. Arnold Sanchez saw playing time for the first
time and scored 3 points. Enrique Morales and Alexis Galindo both connected
on a 3 pointer for the Apaches.
8A from Coach Watt –
The Apaches had a double-header Saturday with MSWAC opponents, Great Bend
and Hays. The Apaches opened the day against Great Bend. The Apaches would
outscore Great Bend in the second half, but a sluggish start was hard to
overcome in the 27-34 final. Hudson Rice led the Apaches in the contest
with seven points, Jakyree Washington and Ishmael Archuleta each added six.
The Apaches then took on top ranked Hays. SRMS was able to weather the
storm in the first quarter keeping things within reach, 4-8. The next 18
minutes were all Hays as the apaches would fall, 17-45. Washington led the
Apaches with eight points in the contest. The Apaches will take on Horace
Good at SRMS Thursday.
