Earl Eugene (Gene) Harbour

Earl Eugene (Gene) Harbour, age 77, died Sunday, January 24, 2021, in Garden City, Kansas.  He was born June 8, 1943, in Crowley, Colorado, the son of Dexter and Martha Irene (Wilbert) Harbour. 

 

Gene served in the United States Army from 1967 until his Honorable Discharge in 1969. He worked for Grant County Road and Bridge Department as a Motor Grader Operator from September 1987 until his retirement in October 2012.  He was a member of Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79 and former Commander.  Gene also coached legion baseball for many years.  He was a member of the Patterson Avenue Church of God, New Beginnings Church, and fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and Nascar driver Jeff Gordon.  Gene married Karen Prough on March 19, 2006.  Gene will be remembered for the love he had for his family and work.

 

Gene is survived by his wife, Karen; son, David P. Harbour and wife Amanda of Pratt; daughter, K. Nicole Law of Wichita; step-daughters, Tami Salsbury and husband Mike of Ulysses, and Lynette Mills and husband Marshall of Ulysses; grandchildren, Haley Harbour, Josh Harbour, Holly McGhee, Kaitlin Diaz, Daniel Law, Kaylee Harbour and Karlee Harbour;  step-grandchildren, Jeremy Alcala, Jade Cisneros, Bo Bredvick, Branson Bredvick, Kara Diaz, Zac Salsbury, Paige Salsbury, and Lexi Hardin; great-grandchildren, Camille Patrida, Scarlette Velasquez, Hayvnn Diaz, and Grey Diaz; step-great-grandchildren, Shane Pauda, Kobe Chavez, Eddie Alcala, Daniel Cisneros, Braylee Bredvick, Keyleigh Velasquez, Malania Arres-Ramirez, KaLeah Salsbury, Greyson Diaz, Brecken Bredvick, Zoey Alcala and Gianna Diaz; and brother, Jack Harbour and wife Sharon of Garden City, Kansas. 

 

Gene is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dexter D., Terry, and Jim Harbour. 

 

Funeral service will be Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 2:00 PM at New Beginnings Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Pastor Larry Borthwick and Pastor Nathan Engleman officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. The funeral service will be streamed live on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Page or New Beginnings Church website.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 27, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.  Memorial contributions may be given to Dexter D.
