Dodge City Cross Country meet Oct. 6, 2020
You know, I do not ever remember anyone saying that the Cross Country sport
was easy. It is fun, exhilarating, and progressive if you work at it.
Today Seymour Rogers Middle School had an impressive milestone. Every
athlete that ran for SRMS had a PR ( personal record). We only brought
home one 7th place medal, but everyone was a winner to Coach Lobmeyer and
Coach Riggs due to their PRs.
It was a blistering temperature of 91 degrees, not much wind nor many
hills. The hard-packed grass course was located at the Dodge City High
School sports complex.
Alexa Macias ran an excellent race with a time of 11:58 in the girls 7th
grade race.
Josh Talley had a personal best mile time of 9:26 in the boys 7th grade
race. Both of these runners showed persistence. Zahir Ortiz continued to
“ bring the bling” with a 7th place medal at a time of 6:27. This is his
3rd medal this season.
The 8th grade girls fielded 2 runners with both PRs from Emma Maltbie at
16:01 and Ariana Cerda at 16:14.
The 8th grade boys continued to improve with Enrique Morales leading the
pack at 13:24, closely followed by Arnold Sanche at 13:26. Alex Koerner
had a PR of 15:04 and Erik Valenzuela followed at 16:33
From Coach Swanson –
8th Grade Volleyball worked hard today playing against Southwestern
Heights. They worked as a team and did well working on and off the net.
Kamilah Delgado and Alizza Castro had multiple strong hits earning us many
points. Ariana Ruiz and Amelia Alacron had good runs on serves helping us
keep our scores close at 21-25(L), 25-13(W), 22-25(L), and 17-25(L). Our
girls have made a lot of gains throughout the season and are looking
forward to WAC this coming Saturday.
From Coach Kelley –
Last night the 7th grade A team Lady Apaches got the win 3-2 against
Southwestern Heights Junior High School. The Lady Apaches started out slow
against the competition but eventually caught up and pushed the first set
to 32-30 falling by two points in the first set. However they came out
strong and kept their lead the entirety of the second and third set. They
would fall the fourth set but come back stronger than ever the fifth and
final set taking the match and marking their first win of the season.
8B from Coach Swanson –
The Lady Apaches faced Eisenhower Middle School. The Lady Warriors came out strong and quickly took the lead and the Lady Apaches struggled to catch back up to them and fell in the first set 16-25. The second set the Lady Apaches struggled to find their stride. They fell in the second set 14-25.
