Second Half Surge Leads Lady Saints Over Colby

KSCB News - February 9, 2009 12:00 am

Toby Wynn said he was surprised people in the Colby Community Building gym didn’t hear him yelling at halftime. He wasn’t happy with his team’s first half effort as they trailed Colby (8-17, 3-8) 27-26 at halftime. But the Lady Saints played a solid second half and won their third straight at Colby 73-46. Seward hit just 10 of 27 free throws and made 33 percent of their field goals in the win. Amanda Pierson led Seward with 17 points and seven rebounds. Vanessa Simmons added 12 points and six rebounds. Rachel Barnes scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds. LaNell Taylor and Vaneza Junior scored 10 a piece. The Lady Saints improve to 20-5 overall and 8-3 in the Jayhawk West. Seward goes to Pratt Wednesday for a 6 pm tip off on B107.5 and kscb.net.
