The EMS 7th grade football team defeated the Kenneth Henderson Falcons 43-0 on Thursday night in their home opener at Warriors Field. The warriors got off to a quick start with a 1 play 67 yard TD run by Josiah Vargas. Xavier Tafoya ran in the 2 point conversion and the warriors lead 8-0. Then after a 3 and out the warriors scored on another 1 play 57 yard drive this time on a run by Xavier Tafoya, Vargas ran in the 2 point conversion. Josiah Vargas the scores 2 more touchdowns in the first quarter scoring on a 15 and 20 yard run as the warriors lead 30-0 at the end of the first quarter. Vargas then scored on defense with a 27 yard pick 6 driving the score to 36-0. The warriors would score one more time on a 51 yard run by Austin Dodge pushing the Halftime and final score to 43-0. Oscar Sanchez converted 3 of 4 extra points in the game. Josiah Vargas ended with 127 yards on just 6 carries with 3 TD’s and one pick 6. Xavier Tafoya and Austin dodge both scored their first TD’s of their EMS careers. Alec Madden ran the ball 3 times for 28 yards, Easton Cooley on his birthday had 2 carries for 11 yards and 9 tackles on defense.
The warriors will be home again next week to take on the Great Bend Panthers!

Eisenhower 8th grade off to a strong start after receiving the ball to start the game. Eisenhower would go on to score on a nice opening drive by picking up four first downs before a 12 yard run by Ayden Juarez. Then the game turned into a defensive battle after neither team could move the ball consistently. After an interception by Kenneth Henderson deep in their own territory Eisenhower defense stepped up to get a safety with a tackle by Landon Martinez to wrap up the first half with the score 10-0. Eisenhower recovered an onside kick to start the third quarter but still could not put another drive together after several miscues and penalties. The defense would step up and get another safety in the third quarter to make it 12-0 EMS after three. The two teams still could not put a drives together but Eisenhower defense would end up getting another safety late in the fourth to make it 14-0. The defense collected three safeties on the night. Eisenhower is now 1-1 and will take on Great Bend next week at home. —
7th Grade was in a back and forth battle with HG, the first half was a
defensive battle with the score being 6-0 at half. The Apaches drove the
ball down the field on the opening drive of the second half to take the
lead 8-6 but HG responded taking the kickoff back for a touchdown. The
apaches gave up another score before putting together a drive for a TD
making the score 14-20, the Apaches then recovered a fumble on the kickoff
only to fall short on the 45yard line. HG scored late to put the game away.
Final HG 26-14.
8th Grade
HG exploded for a TD on the opening play and displayed a fair amount of
power and speed that the Apaches struggle to stop. Apaches scored late but
HG had the game in hand, good effort and improvement by the squad. Final
