Seward County Adopts 2021 Budget with a Slight Decrease in Mill Levy

Joe Denoyer - August 17, 2020 10:00 pm

The Seward County Board of County Commissioners met Monday evening at 5:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Awarded at the meeting were 3 Employee Committee Scholarships. The Employee Committee was able to award 3 – $400.00 scholarships to 3 applicants. Since the Committee did not spend money this year on Government Days or the annual County picnic, they had the money to award 3 scholarships this year. Applicants must be the Child or Grandchild of a Seward County employee, must be enrolled full time in the fall semester and have a GPA of 2.75 or higher. All 3 applicants met these requirements. The Employee Committee awarded the Scholarships to the following students:
Yazmine Ibarbo-Daughter of Cindy Davis-Treasures Office, Demetrio Flores-Son of Carmen Flores-County Atty Office and Abraham Alonso-Son of Diana Alonso-Health Dept.

Commissioners awarded the 2020 Road Sealing Project to B & H Paving, with a bid of $269,161.00 for the 2020 project.

The Commission approved the Rural Fire Station allocation of personnel between two stations for COVID 19 safety reasons, and adopted the 2021 Budget for Seward County with a proposed Mill Levy of 47.834 which is a reduction from the 2020 Budget.
