Seward County Commission Exempts Residents from Gov. Kelly’s Order on Mandatory Face Masks

Joe Denoyer - July 2, 2020 5:30 pm

In a special called meeting after Governor Laura Kelly’s Executive Order mandating Kansas Residents to wear masks while in public places, the County Commission after input from local Health Officials, opted out of the Executive Order as far as it being mandatory.

While the Governors Executive Order No. 20-52 requires in certain circumstances that persons cover their mouth and nose with a mask, The Seward County Board of Commissioners, voted that compliance with the Executive Order shall not be mandatory. Individuals shall not be required to to wear masks, however individuals and businesses are given the choice to voluntarily comply with the Governors Order. Individuals, businesses, religious institutions, public institutions, and all other entities may require the use of masks on their properties and in their businesses.

This Resolution can be supplemented or modified as required for the effective and efficient control of COVID-19.
