Lady Redskins Dominant in Win Over Junction City

For the fourth consecutive year, the Liberal Lady Redskins win their opening round game of sub state. Tuesday night the Lady Red handled the visiting Junction City Lady Blue Jays 58-23.
Liberal led 9-0 and led 16-7 after one. LHS out scored Junction City in the second quarter 15-3 and led 31-10 at the half. The Lady Jays didn’t have a field goal in the second quarter until the end of it. LHS led 44-18 after three. Liberal built a 30 point lead into the fourth quarter for a running clock for the last 2:30 of the game.
Machia Mullens had another monster night. She had a season high 23 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks. Katie Horyna had 20 points. Reagan Watt had eight points and four rebounds. Liberal made just 2-17 from three point range but made 43 percent from the field. LHS was 16-24 at the foul line.
Liberal is 21-0 for the second straight year. Junction City finishes 3-18. Liberal hosts the Manhattan Lady Indians Friday night on 1270 and kscbnews.net. Manhattan defeated Wichita Southeast 48-36 in Wichita Tuesday night.
