Shots Don’t Fall for Redskins at Great Bend

Liberal shot just 29 percent from the field in a 38-31 loss at Great Bend on Saturday night.  Great Bend wins at least a share of the WAC title in the process.

Both teams labored offensively as the Redskins played one of their better defensive games.  The Panthers led 7-6 after one and led 18-8 over LHS at halftime.  Great Bend led 20-10 before the Redskins rallied to trail just 26-23 after three.  The Angry Red tied the game with about four minutes to play.

The Redskins made just 11-38 shots and were 2-14 from three’s.  Liberal was 7-9 at the foul line.  Liberal had nine assists and committed 13 turnovers.  LHs had five steals.

Syris Dunlap had eight points, four assists, and three rebounds.  Lee Hatcher had six points and eight rebounds with three assists.  Hunter Hatcher scored seven.

The Redskins have lost four of the last five and fall to 8-11 overall and 2-5 in the WAC.  Liberal had won five straight in Great Bend until this loss.  Great Bend is 16-4 and finishes 7-1 in the WAC.  Liberal plays at Garden City Tuesday at about 7:45 for their final regular season game airing on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
