McDermott Achieves Excellence

Kids at McDermott Elementary is Liberal continue to achieve excellence. About three weeks ago, school officials learned the school met Standard of Excellence marks in reading and math. McDermott Principal Kathy Fitzgerald says excellence isn’t easy. “We’re excited about that,” Fitzgerald said. “It is getting more difficult every year. The percentage of you students who have to meet the standards raise. So just to meet standard every year goes up a little bit higher.” The scores are based on third grade assessment scores. Fitzgerald says she thanks parents for the impact they make in helping the students keep the school on a lofty perch. McDermott is located at 436 South Pennsylvania in Liberal.
