Former Bee Jays Selected in 2019 Draft

Several Former Bee Jays were selected in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft this week.   The Rangers selected former Bee Jay Joe Corbett in the 10th round.  Corbett pitched at West Texas A&M and pitched for the BJ’s in the 2017 NBC World Series.  He pitched 4 and 1/3 scoreless with six strikeouts and one walk.  2016 Bee Jay catcher Hunter Hearn was taken in the 26th round by the Phillies.  The Sam Houston State backstop hit .105 with an RBI for the 2016 BJ’s.  Middle infielder Jaylen Hubbard was taken by the Nationals in the 27th round.  Hubbard played at Texas State and played in Liberal in 2015.  Hubbard hit .280 with one homer, 18 RBI’s, three doubles, and two triples.  He helped the 2015 Bee Jays go 36-19 and take third at the NBC World Series.  Catcher Kyle Schmidt was selected in the 33rd round by the Twins.  The Richmond catcher hit .400 with four homers, 26 RBI’s, and seven doubles for the 2017 Bee Jays who went 31-16-1 and won the Jayhawk League.
