LHS Softball Rally Falls Short in Regional

Liberal’s softball team proved to be more competitive this season.  The team finished with a winning record and played competitive softball more often this spring.  But it ended Wednesday afternoon at Topeka’s Washburn Rural High School as nine seed Wichita North built a 4-0 lead and held off LHS 4-2.  Milly McClure walked four times and stole five bases for a single season record 38.  Alexia Torres had the only hit.  It was a double and she was thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple.   Lacie Lanning walked twice and picked off a runner.  Kaeleah Chaloupek started in the circle and went four innings allowing four runs but only two were earned.  Meaghan McClure pitched three scoreless innings.  Liberal finishes 12-9 in 2019.

Coach Tom McClure’s comments:

“It was tough way to end a good season with a lot of potential.  But it was a good foundation for some young and hungry talent.  We will have to get in the weight room, get faster, and get more games under our belts during the summer and fall.”
