Syris Dunlap is Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week

Liberal junior Syris Dunlap is the Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week.  Dunlap is a junior outfielder on the Redskin baseball team.  He leads Liberal with a .414 average.  He has seven RBI’s, nine runs, one double, and two triples for the 7-3 Redskins.  He is also a fine centerfielder for the Redskins.  He made a remarkable diving catch on the warning track in Garden City Tuesday.  Dunlap is also a sprinter for the LHS track and field team.  He took 8th in the 100 in 11.03 and 9th in the 200 in 23.06 at the Pre- State Meet in Wichita last week.  Dunlap favors baseball first but will run the meet at Garden City, the WAC meet, and regional and state appearances will depend on baseball.  Dunlap is also is FCA and LHS and was in the fall musical at LHS.  Liberal’s baseball team plays at Alva Thursday vs. Newkirk and Alva.
