20-0 a Reality for Lady Redskins

Brock Kappelmann - February 20, 2019 7:17 am

For the first time in program history, the Liberal Lady Redskins are 20-0.  That became a reality Tuesday night at LHS defeated visiting Garden City 55-35 on Senior Night in the Big House.

After defeating the Lady Buffaloes 53-22 on January 8, this game was much more competitive.  LHS led 13-8 after a quarter and led 25-15 before a 28-20 lead at the half.  LHS led 34-20 and led 37-27 after three quarters.  The Lady Redskins outscored the Lady Buffs 18-8 in the fourth quarter and led 55-31 on their way to the win.

Machia Mullens had 18 points while Katie Horyna dropped in 14.  Whitney Hay had eight on a night when she and Kim Alarcon were a part of the senior recognition ceremony in between games.

Liberal is 20-0 and finishes 8-0 in the WAC for the first time since 2009.  Liberal has won eight in a row over Garden City who falls to 11-9 and 3-5.  If Liberal and Garden both win first round sub state games, they would play again in the Big House for the right to go to state on March 2.  Liberal will host a sub state game Thursday, February 28 in the Big House on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
