One day after a six hour round trip and their biggest win of the season, the Liberal Lady Redskins had a home game with an old WAC rival. The upset minded Dodge City Lady Demons came to town. Liberal did enough for a 47-36 win.
The Lady Redskins had good energy early jumping out to a 16-3 lead. LHS led 13-3 after one quarter. It was 22-10 just before half and 22-13 LHS at the half. LHS led 26-15 before the Lady Demons made the score 26-20. Liberal led 34-21 but DCHS ripped off an 8-0 run to make it 34-29 with 3:50 to play. Liberal led 39-34 with 1:25 to play. The Lady Skins led 41-34 with 58 seconds left and won 47-36.
Katie Horyna had 15 points to lead Liberal while Machia Mullens had 12. Audrey Gilmore dropped in seven. Liberal’s made free throws down the stretch were key as Gilmore was 5-6 at the line and LHS was 20-26.
Liberal is 16-0 and 5-0 in the WAC and has won five in a row over Dodge City. The Lady Demons are 7-9 and 2-2 in the WAC. Liberal hosts Cimarron Tuesday night at 6 in the Big House with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
