Duerson Named Commended Student in National Merit Scholar Program

Liberal High School student Melissa Duerson will never forget this homecoming week. Earlier this week, she was informed she would be named a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship program. She scored in the top five percent of 1.5 million students who took the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Kendal Reed was Liberal’s last Merit Scholar in 2006.
