Three Vehicle Accident Injures Several in Stanton County

A three vehicle accident occured Friday afternoon at approximately 4:19pm 9 miles south of Johnson on K27 in Stanton County. A 2008 Honda Civic being driven by Jordan Gardea-Palacios, 20, of Liberal, was northbound on K27 highway and a  2009 Freightliner semi driven by Milton Galvez, 46, of Colorado Springs CO who was traveling southbound on K27. Gardea-Palacios lost control of the Civic and went left of center and struck left rear axel of the semi trailer.  After impact, the Civic rotated counter clockwise and entered the southbound lane of K27 and was struck on the passenger side by a 2007 Nissan Titan being driven by Jacqueline Ceniceros, 23, of Portales New Mexico who was south bound on K27. After impact, the Civic came to rest in middle of highway facing north. The Freightliner continued traveling southbound and came to a stop a quarter mile south of accident. The Nissan came to rest in the southbound ditch of k27 facing northwest.

Injured in the accident was Gardea-Palacios and a passenger in his car, Aaliya Earl, 19, of Oklahoma.

Also injured were Ceniceros and her passengers, Ruby Talameantez, 20, Mercy Lopez, 28, Kelly Garcia, 8, and Catalina Garcia, 17, all of Portales.

The driver of the semi, Galvez was not injured.
