SCCC’s Auditions for Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”

Seward County Community College is proud to present Disney’s “The Little
Mermaid” with Book by Doug Wright, Music by Alan Menken, and Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater. The Stage and Musical Directors will hold auditions on January 24 and 25 in the Showcase Theater from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Performance are scheduled for April 5th and 6th at 7pm and a matinee at 3pm on April 8th.
“The Little Mermaid” is a fairy tale written by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The Danish literary master of fairy tales has achieved word wide recognition as an author of plays, novels, poems, travel books, and several autobiographies. His natural storytelling abilities and great imaginative power of folk legends produced a body of fairy tales that relates to many cultures.
“The musical has over 20 parts available for casting,” said Instructor and Stage Director Michele Van Hessen.”
It is not necessary to prepare a song from the show. Musical Director, Dr. Magda Silva will conduct a series of exercises to place the actors vocal ranges and the Stage Director will have the actors read from the book.
“Calling all actors, singers and dancers to audition for this fishy fable that will capture the audiences heart,” concluded Van Hessen.
