Southwest Medical Center is proud to announce the arrival of radiologist, Robert Williams, M.D., DABR. Dr. Williams began providing diagnostic imaging services in Liberal this month.
Dr. Williams is a long-time resident of the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle regions. He completed medical school at The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine before performing rotating internships and his residency at the Texas A&M/Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. He is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology.
Williams explains many of his family members became veterinarians, but his interest in science and physics led him down the road to become a radiologist.
“On an intellectual level, medicine is fascinating,” Williams said. “I’ve always felt medicine is a noble profession and have admired physicians for the work they do. Radiology is a very broad field – we do everything from obstetric ultrasounds to follow-ups for oncology patients. We get to know all the anatomy and physiology of the body, so that’s the challenge and fun in radiology.”
Dr. Williams has owned a contract radiology company, Western Oklahoma Radiology, LLC, since 2007. He is also a founding partner of Ada Imaging Partners, PLLC, and is a majority owner and founder of Roadrunner Radiology, a mobile x-ray and ultrasound provider for hospitals and healthcare centers throughout Texas. Dr. Williams has served as a general radiologist and medical director in Temple, Texas, as well as Elk City, Woodward, Guymon, and Boise City, Oklahoma.
After many years operating contract and mobile imaging services, Dr. Williams said he’s glad to join the Medical Staff at Southwest Medical Center, where he can both read images and perform procedures for patients.
“I like helping patients in making accurate diagnoses and assisting surgeons to determine the best surgical path,” Williams said, adding that, “I enjoy working with technologists and helping them progress in their careers.”
“We are excited to have Dr. Williams as part of our team,” Southwest Medical Center’s Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Kelly Denton, said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge for our patients and our staff. We look forward to expanding our practices in the department and supporting our patients and medical providers in the community.”
Dr. Williams says he chose Liberal for the quality of life and friendliness of the community.
“People here are just exceptional. I feel right at home here,” he said. “Something about Southwest Medical Center that really stands out to me is that physicians come here and they stay because it’s a nice place to work. I’ve known Dr. Zainali for a long time and enjoy working with him. We also have a tremendous technical staff here in the department and an excellent department director.”
Dr. Robert Williams will be working with Dr. Assad Zainali at Southwest Medical Center to read a variety of diagnostic images, including ultrasound, mammography, CT scans, MRI exams, and nuclear medicine studies. He will also perform interventional procedures.
In his spare time, Dr. Williams enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and operating his farmland in Texas.
