Middle School Results

Saturday the Eisenhower XC team competed in their final meet of the season
at Arkalon Park in Liberal. All our runners ran their hearts out and showed
great growth as they navigated this course.

Our 7th grade girls finished in 6th place. We were low in numbers on this
team but all members showed their heart this season and showed great growth.

Our 7th grade boys finished in 2nd place. Our two medalists were Angel Real
in 5th place and Daniel Pavia finished 4th. Our runners were very
competitive all season long and we look forward to seeing what they can do
in the future.

In 8th grade girls action, we placed 2nd by just 5 points. We had great
performances by our entire team. Our girls ran the best race of their
middle school careers. We had 2 finish in the medals. Lexi Franz finished
10th and Hallie West finished in 6th place.

Eighth grade boys repeated as MSWAC champions dominating the league scores
all season long. We had two medalist, David Villa finished 10th and Daniel
Amparan 8th. The championship team included Daniel, David, Gideon Wright,
Elian Laguna, Anthony Castilleja, Hudson Brown and Erick Chavarria. The
future looks bright for these young men!

Thanks to everyone who supported our student athletes this season as they
begin to navigate their world! Coaches are most proud of their effort all
season long.

Volleyball

The 8th grade Eisenhower volleyball team won MSWAC.  They finish the season 24-0.

 

Saturday, the Eisenhower 7th Grade B-Team Girls competed in the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament.
The Lady Warrior’s were successful all day playing the minimum number of sets winning the Conference Tournament.
Opening pool play as the two seed, the Lady’s struggled in the opening set against Dodge Commanche, but came out on top 26-24. The girls were pushing too hard that opening game, missing serves and not playing as a team. True to form though, as they’ve done all season, the lady’s came back at elimination point 23-24, to take the next two points for the win. From that point on – the Lady’s settled in taking the remaining matches in regulation scores.
Completing a pool sweep, the Lady’s took on Horace Good in the semifinal round. The Hawks presented a challenge at the start. Julie Van Whye came in to serve with the Warriors trailing by one. She proceeded to rattle 9 straight points giving the Lady’s a comfortable 19-10 lead. They finished the set at 25-21. The Hawks continued to be pesky in set two with the Warriors once again taking the final three points wining 25-23.
Next up was Hays in the Championship game. Elizabeth Mendez opened the first set scoring the first three. Soon into the game the Lady’s found themselves trailing 6-14. After a Falcon mistake, Bret Lyon came in serving five points to get the warriors within three. Serves by Julie Van Whye and Elizabeth Mendez powered the Lady’s to a 20 -18 lead. The defense held ground as the Warriors won 25-20. Bret Lyon, stated Coach Babinec, was instrumental in that game getting the Warriors back on track. Not only did she serve well, but got some crucial hits to keep us alive.
Set two saw the Lady’s play even for the most part and once again took control late in the game winning the Championship 25-21.
The day was quite special. We focused one set at a time. The Lady’s did a great job on the court communicating and helping each other. Especially in the first set against Hays, after my second time out trailing 6-14, the Lady’s reached back and played with tenacity that never let up. This was truly a TEAM effort, Eleven lady’s unselfishly taking their role and coming home 2018 WAG Champions!
