The Liberal Bee Jays have guaranteed themselves a winning road trip. With Saturday night’s 11-2 win at Derby, the BJ’s are 4-1 on the trip with one game to go.

Saturday night was a complete effort by Liberal’s boys in blue. Brett Mathews pitched seven strong innings and did not allow an earned run.  Christian Isenhour pitched two innings to wrap it up.  Liberal out-hit the Twins 17-6.

The Bee Jays got off to the start they needed with three in the first. After Clint Allen singled and Dane Simon doubled, Sean Arnold singled them home with a solid grounder up the middle. Brock Burton singled him home. Liberal tacked on two in the second when Arnold bombed a homer to left center. Burton doubled and scored when Dylan Paul tripled to right to make it 6-0. Derby scored an unearned run in the third. Neither team scored again until the BJ’s scored five in the ninth. Allen doubled and Simon doubled him home. Boone Montgomery doubled and Burton unloaded a three run homer to right.

Burton was 4-5 with four RBI’s while Allen and Simon had three hits a piece. Arnold had four RBI’s. Montgomery and Paul had two hits a piece.
