LIBERAL, Kan. – For the tenth straight year, the Seward County Lady Saints will be represented at the NJCAA All-Star Weekend in Georgia as upcoming sophomore Lexi Hernandez has accepted the invitation to the nation’s top showcase in junior college women’s basketball.

“I am extremely excited for Lexi on being selected to play in the NJCAA All-Star Game,” Head Coach Austin Mefford said. “She is deserving and definitely one of the top returning players in the NJCAA. She will do excellent job representing Seward County in Atlanta.”

Hernandez had a solid freshman campaign, starting in 31 of the 35 games for Seward.  She averaged 7.8 points per game, while shooting 44 percent from the floor and 35 percent from behind the arc.  Hernandez was fourth on the team in scoring in 2017-18 scoring in double-figures 13 times including a career-high 18 points in a 74-53 win over Butler on Jan. 20. Her six-for-eight performance from behind the arc marked the fourth most threes made in a single game in Seward County history.

The NJCAA All-Star Weekend will take place in Atlanta, Georgia from July 26 through July 29. The 40 athletes will be split into teams to practice on the 27th.  The teams will play two games each. Competition will begin the 28th and conclude the 29th.
