Lady Saints Drop Wild One at Indy

It Took a lot for the independence Lady Pirates to outlast the Seward Lady Saints Saturday night in Independence. Indy should 56 percent from the field and nailed 10-17 three pointers to outlast #6 Seward 80-73 at the ICC Fieldhouse in Independence.
The game was tied 19-19 after one quarter. The Lady Pirates led 37-32 at the half. The Lady Saints outscored Indy 19-15 in the third. The Lady Saints trailed 58-51 with 7:10 to play before finishing regulation on a 17-8 run to send the game to overtime. Seward had the ball with 1.9 seconds left but was unable to score. Independence led 75-68 in overtime before Seward rallied to cut the lead to 75-73. But ICC finished the game on a 5-0 run.
Mollie Mounsey had 16 points and Vilma Covane had 15. Silvia Veloso had nine points and seven rebounds. Sydney Tinner had 14. The Lady Saints shot 39 percent in the loss.
The loss snaps a 17 game SCCC winning streak. Seward is 24-3 and 20-3 in the Jayhawk. Independence is 21-5 overall and 19-4 in the KJCCC.
