SCCC Safety Director Resigns

Joe Denoyer - January 9, 2018 4:16 pm

Seward County Community College Director of Safety and Security Dennis Mulanax tendered his resignation Tuesday, following his appointment as the new Chief of Police for the city of Liberal. SCCC President Dr. Ken Trzaska said Mulanax’s departure will leave “a huge gap,” as the college continues its push to strengthen security measures.
“Dennis contributed tremendously to our key direction of promoting a safe and healthy campus, particularly in the current environment,” Trzaska said. “We’re going to explore our next steps to continue that focus.”
Initiatives implemented at the college during Mulanax’s stint as head of security included a more robust system for ID cards, parking permits and on-campus speed limit enforcement, coordinated reporting of security incidents, and the relocation of an expanded security office in the Hobble Administration Building. As part of the college’s priority “Mover” projects, new safety and security measures were introduced, including key cards for the Student Living Center, and a more precise approach to campus building access.
“During our upcoming executive team planning retreat, we will take a close look about how to build on this foundation, and keep our momentum strong,” said Trzaska. “We appreciate Dennis’ good work at SCCC, and wish him well in his new endeavor.“
