2 Year Old Dies In Car Accident Near Meade

A car crash in rural Meade County leaves 1 person dead. The accident occurred Sunday morning at approximately 1:00am 1 mile west of Artesian Road, which is 1 mile west of K23 Highway. A 2001 Suburban being driven by Vicente Tomas Tino, 34, of Friona Texas was Westbound on Meade County Road V when he lost control of the vehicle while going around a curve. The vehicle entered the south ditch and rolled. The driver was injured, as was a passenger in the Suburban, Isabel Solis-Gomez, 23, also of Friona. A second passenger, 2 year old Felipe James Tomas, died as a result of his injuries. The 2 year old was in a car seat, but was not buckled.
