Liberal Finishes Second in Opening Tournament at Hays

The Liberal girls golf team picked up where they left off last year.  After winning the regional a season ago, the LHS girls opened their season with a second place finish at Smoky Hills in Hays Monday.  Liberal shot a 223 and took second to Hays who scored a 207.  Liberal finished ahead of Dodge City, Garden City, Great Bend, Salina South, and Salina Central.  Corey Mein was fourth with a 47 while Kaitlyn Kirk was 6th with a 54 and Sarah Aichele was 10th with a 55.  Morgan Nelson shot a 67.  A girl from Hays Karee Dinkle shot a 39 to win it.  Liberal competes at Fore Winds Golf Course in Hugoton on Thursday.
