LIBERAL, Kan. – Coming off of their first Region VI Championship in thirteen years, the Seward County Lady Saints volleyball team won’t be overlooked. In the first national polls of 2017, the Lady Saints are ranked #18 in the country.

2016 was a banner year for the Saints, as they won the Jayhawk West, Region VI and placed 11th at the NJCAA National Tournament. The tournament appearance was the first appearance in thirteen years, but with Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen at the helm, the Lady Saints likely won’t have to wait that long again. In the two seasons that she had been head coach, the Lady Saints have improved their overall record, conference record, and finishes in the Jayhawk West and Region VI.

Seward County was the only Jayhawk Conference team to be ranked or receive votes in the polls. The Lady Saints went undefeated in the preseason, winning every match without giving up a set. Their season officially begins with a trip to New Mexico Military Institute Kick-Off Classic for games against Odessa and Pima on Friday (Aug. 25) before wrapping up the tournament against Eastern Arizona and South Mountain on Saturday (Aug. 26).
