The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening for their regularly scheduled meeting with the adoption of the 2018 Budget on the agenda. The City Commission adopted the new budget for the upcoming year which reflects no increase in the mill levy. The City’s budget for 2018 is $6,235,769.00.
Commissioners set the date and time for a public hearing on a proposed Rural Housing Incentive District. This will take place on September 26 at 5:30 inside the City Commission Chambers. If approved, this district would create 8 new single family homes.
The Commission approved the tree match program where Liberal residents can buy up to 4 trees at $25 each, and choose from 8 varieties.
$35,000 was moved into the Senior Housing Programs as funds had been used up in the Senior Rehabilitation Program.
Also approved was the waterline project in the amount of $1,671,247.62 to upgrade water mains in the City.
