A very large crowd packed the Seward County Activity Center on Saturday evening, May 6th, as the community celebrated Cinco De Mayo with the crowning of the Cinco de Mayo Queen. 13 young ladies vied for the title before a packed house. Categories included were: Introductions, Heritage Costume, Evening Wear and an On Stage Question. Folkloric Dancers provided the entertainment throughout the evening. Crowned the 2017 Cinco De Mayo Queen was Haley Lujan .

The festivities continued Sunday with a large downtown parade at 3:00pm, with the festivities at the Activity Center beginning at 4:000pm. There were several contests throughout the afternoon including a screaming Contest and a jalapeno eating contest. The folkloric dancers were back, there were giveaways, and several community sponsored booths. Activities continued throughout the evening, as things wound down around 7:00pm.
