Colby Too Much for Saints

Colby is now 5-2 in February as the Trojans topped the Saints six 92-76 Wednesday night in the Colby Community Building.  The Saints used six players for a second consecutive game as three Saints remained under a team suspension.   Seward had won 8 of 10 in Colby before the loss.

The Trojans jumped all over the sluggish Saints leading 21-5 and 28-9 early.  The Trojans led 52-30 at the half.  Seward actually outscored Colby in the second half 46-40.  Seward’s Charles Beauregard scored 28 January 7 in a win over Colby in Liberal.  But Wednesday he scored two as he was slowed by foul trouble.

Several Saints scored career highs.  Martavious Wilson scored a high of 24 points with six rebounds.  Jeromie Simmons scored his high of 15 with six rebounds.  Malik Brown added 13 while Pierre Johnson had 12 and Ernest Carter scored his high of 10 points with seven rebounds.

The Saints fall to 8-20 and 5-19 in the Jayhawk.  Colby is 14-14 overall and 10-14 in the KJCCC.  Seward plays at Dodge City Saturday at 3 on 107.5 and kscbnews.net.
