Hooker United Methodist Church to hold 80th Annual Ground Hog Supper
Joe Denoyer - January 23, 2017 3:54 pm
The oldest Ground Hog Supper in the area is happening again.
Last year, Chairman John Lambley added entertainment to the evening of food, fun, and fellowship and that will continue this year.
Few men of the church are able to spend consecutive days butchering hogs and processing meat as in days of old.
Few events these days would have a “Gravy Committee,” but the Hooker Groundhog does and Gravy Chairman Rick Wayman is experienced and rightly proud of his homemade gravy.
This year’s event will be Sunday January 29, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hooker Methodist Church.
So what do you like best? Is it Loren’s liver and onions, maybe Zella Martens’ mashed potatoes with sausage gravy? How about Barbara Seawright’s sauerkraut and ribs, or maybe it’s one (or two or more) of Ruthie’s homemade biscuits? Everyone likes the sausage, both patty or link and there’s always their famous homemade applesauce?
