Hugoton Boys and Girls Win State

Hugoton’s boys and girls cross country teams have added to the HHS trophy case. Hugoton’s teams both won 3A state Saturday in Lawrence. The Hugoton boys won state by scoring 52 points. Halstead was the next closest with 66. Miguel Martinez-Cama was third in the state at 17:01. Abraham Garcia was fourth with a time of 17:05. Ethan Fox was ninth at 17:26. Jahaziel Garcia was 27th at 18:09. Ivan Villa was 31st with a time of 18:17. Eric Perry was 55th with a time of 18:54. Bryan Gonzalez was 77th at a time of 19:33.
The Hugoton girls won state with a 74 and Hiawatha had 82 for second. Abby Heger was sixth with a time of 20:47. Rebecca Johnson was 21st at 21:41. Kathryn Heger was 29th at 21:57. Victoria Duran was 41st at 22:26. Cielo Garcia was 44th at 22:41. Francis Gaskill placed 52nd at 23:07. Luz Romo was 61st at 24:09.
