Seward and Seven Others Could Leave Jayhawk

Seward is prepared to leave the Jayhawk Conference.  SCCC and seven others say they will leave the conference if the KJCCC doesn’t drop scholarship  limits.  Seward, Garden City, Dodge City, Cloud, Cowley, Independence, Coffeyville, and Barton are prepared to leave the KJCCC and begin their own conference.  What do the schools want? They want to play by the NJCAA’s scholarship rules without the Jayhawk’s limitations on full ride and out of state scholarships.  There will be a vote in Hays on Wednesday.  A 2/3 vote will be necessary to keep the conference together.  If the conference stays together, schools will determine whether to play by NJCAA division 1 or division 2 rules.  If the conference votes against playing by the NJCAA’s rules, the eight schools including Seward will start their own conference.  The teams in Kansas would still play together in Region 6 for postseason.
