LHS Girls Win Regional at Willow Tree

What a day! Liberal’s girls golf team reached the program’s pinnacle Monday.  They won the regional at Willow Tree in Liberal to qualify all six golfers to state.  It’s Liberal’s first regional title and first time to qualify the full team to state.  LHS shot a 376 while Bishop Carroll shot a 377 and Maize a 385 to also qualify for state in front of Great Bend, Ark City, Goddard, and Goddard Eisenhower.  Liberal went one and two individually.  Corey Mein won the regional with an 82 while Sarah Bayouth is the runner up with an 83.  Mein shot a 41 on the front and the back while Bayouth carded a 41 and 42.  Kaitlyn Kirk shot a 50 and 52 for a 102 while Bayli Crosier shot 55 and 54 for a 109.  The top four account for the 376 score.  Sarah Aichele shot a 117 and Abby Lovato carded a 132.  LHS competes at state at Crestview in Wichita Monday at 8 a.m.
