Clown Hoax Hits Liberal

Many people, including parents, have approached officers regarding the “Clowns” and their students being scared. The Wichita Police Department and surrounding areas have determined the information to be a hoax. However, LPD has had reports of clowns scaring people in Liberal and it is all over social media. Apparently, there is a new movie coming out, perpetuating the hoax.
Please be advised that there have been NO direct threats to the Liberal schools and students should be cautioned about dressing up, even though Halloween is around corner. This could be dangerous and someone could get hurt. Please call 911 or the non-emergency number at 620-624-4000 if you see a clown and get the tag number, if possible.
Liberal and Seward County Law enforcement is aware of the situation……student and community safety is priority number one.
