Architect and Builder Prepare for Final Phase of Bond Project

The USD 480 board heard from the architect and builder regarding the third and final phase of the bond project.  The board met Tuesday night.  The bond architect BLR and builder JE Dunn provided artist renderings for phase three which includes the conversion of West Middle School to Liberal High School and converting Cottonwood and Sunflower Intermediate schools into K-5 elementary schools.  The board will vote on whether to approve BLR and JE Dunn’s presentation and the next meeting September 19.

The board approved the hiring of an additional cross country coach for Eisenhower Middle School.  EMS has 73 kids out for cross country and only two coaches currently.

The board accepted a grant from the Kansas State Department of Education.  the Rural and Low Income Grant provides $66,736 dollars used primarily for teacher recruitment, parental involvement programs, and safe and drug free school programs.
