Calvin E. Smith

Calvin E. Smith, 89, of Hardesty, Oklahoma passed away July 13, 2014 at his home.

Calvin was born December 4, 1924 in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis S. Henderson Smith.

He attended school in the Hardesty area. He entered the U.S. Navy during WWII serving aboard ship during the Pearl Harbor attack in Hawaii.

On December 21, 1947 in Enid, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Betty Pauline Nusz. They farmed near Hardesty from 1955 to 1990 when they moved into Hardesty. He worked on the county road crew at Texas County for twenty six years.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brother, Perry, Melvin

He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; and brother, Gene Smith of California.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Hardesty Community Church with Rev. Jack Cornell officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Hooker, Oklahoma.
