Maria T. Ortiz DeLeon, 73, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Southwest Medical Center , Liberal. She was born August 13, 1940 at Guatemala City , Guatemala , the daughter of Rafael and Rafela (Ramirez) Ortiz.

She married Carlos DeLeon in 1963 in Guatemala City , Guatemala . He survives.

A resident of Liberal for the past 28 years, She formally worked for the Liberal Inn for 25 years, and most recently she worked for U.S.D. # 480 for 3 years, retiring in 2011. She also worked as a seamstress in her spare time.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Liberal

She was preceded in death by her Parents, 1 Daughter Lorena DeLeon Ortiz, 2 Brothers Pablo Ortiz and Federico Ortiz, and 1 Sister Zola Ortiz.

Rosary/Vigil Service: 7:00 pm Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church

Funeral Mass: 1:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Father Hector de la Vega, presiding.

Visitation: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Thursday and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home

Burial: Will be at Restlawn Cemetery , Liberal, Ks
