George Salazaar

George Salazar, age 53, of Manter, Kansas, died Friday, December 7, 2012, at his home in Manter, Kansas. He was born March 13, 1959 in Hereford, Texas, the son of Eduvijez (Vickie) Sanchez Griego.

George was a graduate of Johnson High School in 1978. His family were migrant workers; moving from Texas to Wyoming with the harvest seasons. They settled in Johnson to be centrally located. George was a Corporal in the United States Army Infantry serving in Germany. He was a machinist by trade. On June 24, 2005, he married Karleen Prickett in Newton, Kansas. They moved back from Newton, Kansas to Manter two years ago. George dedicated many hours to his motorcycles and had many friends.

George is survived by his wife, Karleen, of the home; son, Coltan Jessie Salazar of Zachary, Louisiana; daughter, Calli Rae Salazar Schneider of Abilene, Kansas; step-son, Aaron Anderson of McPerson, Kansas; step-daughters, Amber Rodriguez of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Rachel Anderson of McPherson, Kansas, and Lyndsey Anderson of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren, Paisley Jo Salazar, Owen Anderson, Leila Carrothers, Cora Carrothers, Ethan Anderson-Alexander, and Nicholas Alexander; three aunts, three uncles and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Vickie; brother, Jessie Griego; and grandparents, Earnesto and Beatriz Sanchez.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Manter, Kansas with Pastor Will Kenyon officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson, Kansas.
