Naomi Knier, 52, of Hugoton, Kansas passed away September 29, 2012 at Odyssey Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
Naomi Decker Knier was born January 24, 1960 in Hooker, Oklahoma, the daughter of Wilbur dean and Ida Mae Zordel Decker. She grew up in Hooker, graduating with the Class of 1978. Naomi received her Associates of Applied Science Degree from Seward County Community College. She worked at Hooker High School as Mr. Bill Longest secretary for four years. In 984, Naomi went to work for The First National Bank of Hooker as a teller, then as a loan secretary before advancing to the President’s Executive Assistant. She worked for FNB-Hooker for twenty eight years.
Naomi was united in marriage to Donald D. Knier, Sr. on March 25, 1994 at the Hugoton United Methodist Church. They made their home south of Hugoton. Naomi truly enjoyed her gardening. She could not grow a house plant, but she could produce an abundant crop of vegetables. She enjoyed visiting the cabin in Cascara, Colorado, spending time talking to her daughter on the telephone everyday and loving on her cats, Tobi and Little Bit.
Naomi was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Denise Knier Leonard and great niece, Kara Rundles.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie of the home, her daughter, Lori Dawn Carroll and husband Kelly of Poteau, Oklahoma; stepsons, Donald Jr. (DD) Knier and wife Tonya, David Knier and step son in law Jan Leonard and wife Sherri, all of Hugoton, Kansas. Three sister, Janice McCann and husband Daniel of Hooker, Oklahoma, Sharon Frittz of Elk City, Oklahoma and Shirley Dennis and husband William of Hartman, Colorado; special cousins, Christ Zordel of Spearville, Kansas and Yvonne Clark of Denver, Colorado and many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Hugoton United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Cross officiating. Interment will be in the Hugoton Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and at the church from 9 a.m. to time of services on Wednesday.
