Faleta Shepard, age 90, of Johnson, Kansas died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson, Kansas. She was born August 16, 1921 in Gray County, Kansas, the daughter of John and Pearl (Shiel) Parker.
Faleta moved to Stanton County in 1933 and graduated high school in Johnson in 1937. She attended Business College in Dodge City for two years. Faleta married Virgil Amos Shepard on January 1, 1941 in Stanton County, Kansas. She worked at the ASCS office for 30 years. Faleta was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, Cosmos Club, Rebecca Lodge, and board member of the Stanton County Recreation Department, and the Stanton County Community Concert.
Survivors include son, Steve Shepard and wife Glenda of Johnson, Kansas; daughter, Toni McIntire and husband David of Linn Valley, Kansas; six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Faleta is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil on December 14, 2008; one brother, and three sisters.
Funeral service will be held Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, Kansas with Reverend Don Hasty officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
